one most important thing that i have learnt this week - Be
Optimistic. have to be positive at all times, even if you feel tired, feel dirty, feel wet, just by being positive helps to tide all kinds of obstacle through. this is one thing that i realised when i was having section live firing on friday.
it was raining all day, and the range does not have any form of shelter. so we have no choice but to stay out in the rain and getting soaked. that day's lunch must be the most pitiful lunch i ever had - me and my section mates were staying under the shelter of a tree, trying to eat from our packet food and ensuring minimum rain fall to our food. the worst part was probably during the shooting, where we have to prone on many puddles of mud. everyone came out soaking wet with mud and
freezing. in between the waiting periods we sat under the so called shelter of the trees and huddle close together talking rubbish to keep ourselves from thinking how bad we feel. i kept thinking on how much worst it could get if the commanders ask us to do stupid stuff like leopard crawl or push ups, which helps to make the currrent situation seems less bad.
being section commander for three days, i realised that my section have quite alot of selfish people. its only through tough times then i start to see how selfish some of them are. as a result, i always have to rely on the same few people to help the section to do all the saikangs. i also realised that leadership is not about commanding people all around, but to be responsible for your people and help them while ensuring things get done. but the toughest thing about leadership is the part about influencing people - to influence people to change their mindsets and getting things done. all this cannot be achieved by punishments alone, it have to be mixed with some forms of incentives and real conviction from the leader himself.
vulgarity of the week from the commanders -
'you f*&king f*&k f&^kers!!!!'sispec's instructors basically shows us the negative examples of commanders and shows us we shouldn't be like them or the men under us will suffer like hell and get treated like dogs.
another tough week ahead.....hope i dun get lost in the night navigation!

its a horrible experience to be totally soaked in the rain in uniform, rifle and everything, searching for 4000 golden colour objects that is buried by the rain-soaked sand on 12 am. nevertheless, this experience is shared by all my section mates, so its not that bad after all.
navigation, field camp ahead. wish myself luck as im the section leader of the next horrible week.

I think many people might be astounded when i say this - food in camp is actually quite good. obviously food is not to the point of
heavenly, like having crystal jade's la mian for lunch and swensen's banana crumble for dessert. but food is fantastic in terms of its variety and combinations, as well as the fruits and ice-creams they provide in addition to the main course. for example i can have western food for lunch, plus honeydew and ice-cream for dessert. ate more ice-cream this week den any week of my life =x
this week is actually quite good, as
- missed 2 morning exercises due to rain
- had 2 nights-out, and this is the time when you see many almost bald-head guys walking around in jurong point, often carrying one bag full of food with one hand and ice-cream with the other.
- no training at all! due to ippt AND many weapon training which im not allowed to say.
- proud to announce that i got
IPPT SILVER plus a 2.4km timing of
9 minute and
40 seconds.
on the other hand life is quite gloomy ahead as i have live range and navigation exercises ahead of me this week. hopefully my section wouldn't 'holland' and get lost in the stupid forest.
be more decisive & caring!

2nd week - less crazy den the first one, probably due to the co's influence (the biggest rank guy in the campus). apparently he walked around with slippers and shorts around my company line during the 1st and 2nd week and naturally everyone dun recognise him. everybody who see him thinks he just some random uncle walking around cleaning the areas, so people whom he chatted to were totally honest to his questions such as 'is this company xiong?'. of cuz some people went to raise their greviances and complains about the company, such as the 'pen' incident. den the next day, the 'uncle' walked to our company line with his uniform (with badges, rank and everything) and everybody was
stunned. he den reassured that we would be treated fairly and he even had a word with our oc (company's so called principal). hopefully life will be slightly better from now on...
omg i cant believe im so unlucky in ippt. i wanted to hit a 9 minute xx seconds for 2.4 run, but i ended the closest and worst possible result =.=.
