Weekly update~. School is really taking its toll nowadays...i just go straight to sleep after reaching home at near 10.

::Medical checkup (NS)::

At first I thought everything was rather systematic. Went to take the photograph. Now den I realise why all NS photos IDs looked so glum. Everyone is forced to have a very serious look, and ur chin might be exactly positioned and head at right angle etc etc. The man doing this is less den friendly and makes you wonder; is this a photoshoot or a shot that will end our life. -.-

The other checkups: Heart check with the ECG, x-ray, urine test, blood test etc. That's even one person who will pose the question: Are you homosexual? -.-. Oh man. And handphones are nt allowed to be in vicinity of CMPB. Have to keep them somewhere in a handphone cell near the entrance.

Vocational Test: A test that is supposed to test ur IQ and this will be one of the criteria to determine whether one can be a officer. Each test consist of fifteen to twenty questions of a certain theme, eg maths. And there are about 6 tests in total.

Very tedious la...I spent almost one hour doing the entire thing, when suddenly the computer shuts down by itself. *Stunned. As the computer restarted, I prayed that it would go back to the question that I ended with. Den the worst came - I was back to the starting question! OMG La. Den I asked the person-in-charge and he just shrugs and says, "about one person each day will be this lucky" and asked me to come back next monday! I was totally wtfffffff and just wan to get the hell of there. Grr. No wonder the computers crashed...when the computer restarted I realised its a Windows 95 computer. WOW!!!!!!. What high-tech technology. Geez.

About School:

Got back math and econs. Was quite stunned and surprised about my result, and even so when I was told I was among the 4 out of 20 plus people in the class who passed, and that the cohort did extremely badly, as meichen put it rightly, there are many people in the U club, and even more so in the S club. I passed math, nt very gd, but still after using about four hours to chiong 5 chapters, I couldn't really ask for better results.

CO practice ended very late......but it was never very efficient. Yesterday, mr lee (my section's instructor) told us the serious-ness of the competition and bleh bleh. Seems like he intended to take some people off from the competition. Haiz, seems like have to work harder, as we are labelled as the "inexperienced" people. Den after yesterday's practice, went to kap with some of the people in my section. Meet quite a few of the exco people there and they started gossiping about CO, the school. Im nvr a gossip-monger I supposed >.< But their talking spark me into thinking...I feel so lost...I lost my aim, i dunno what I wan...I need to find myself...find who I really am.

Hai I really think co is gonna get a bad syf result at this rate. There is little or no improvement after every 3-5 hr combined practice, or no motivation to improve among the ppl. I will still have a long way to go to become good also...bleh.

First week of term 2!
- More co practices. Almost everyday also got practice abit.
- Common test results. I got a D. Dunno if that is a good thing or bad thing. Good thing is im among the 40 plus percent in my gp class who got a pass. Bad thing is I think on the whole, the whole level have gotten quite well and most got good grades =.=
- Chem - B. The only subject I truely studied for, and the results are quite disappointing, considering the stupid mistakes I have made and the effort I ve put in. Yes I know that half of my class have failed and I shd be happy I passed. But if i compare with the whole level again.....
- Bio and econs. I think I have failed both of them, after all the hints the teacher gave.

Hmm btw I went to research about the double bass using my favourite search engine - Wikipedia!. (lol) I found out that the hole of all the string instrument is called the f-hole! It does leave room for imagination huh (hehe). GDAE, CGDA. Double bass is in fourths (four note interval) and cello is in fifths (same as other string instruments - viola and violin). All this I only knew at this point of time. geez.

I seriously want to go out and have fun.......

We live in the present, what's passed is past.
No point blaming yourself for everything.
Only you can find the key to unlock yourself from all the troubles.
Its never too late to start again...

::Back from CO Camp::

DISCLAIMER: THE POST BELOW IS ACTUALLY KINDA LONG AND BORING. ITS NOT UNDERSTANDABLE FOR MOST PARTS AS ITS JUST MY THOUGHTS. SKIP THIS POST AS IT WILL NT BE FUNNY AT ALL.

The past three days have been filled with fun, *gambling (bridge + dai dee!), TONs of sectionals & combined practice, learning interestingly new j1s and last but not least executing the amazing race that I and the others have planned for.

Overview of the camp:
Day 1: Mass games, practice, practice (Five hours of combined), CARDS!

Less than happy at the start actually, all the juniors just seem distant to me. I know that I should go talk to them but......aiya just cant do it at that point of time. Mass games was like okay lor. Actually I found introductions like telling of names quite redundant at the start. There is no way one could remember it anw.

During sectionals a new double bass actually arrived. Omg I forgot to take a picture of it, but it just looks weirder den the rest, as its orange in colour instead of the usual brown. Price tag $2000. Actually quite a cheap one but who cares, as long as I can dun use the old one in which the string was so far away from the finger board, which can make my finger blister within moments of using it.

Was quite mad during the night actually cuz the conductors originally wanted the auditions to be held in the night at 10pm, but in the end it dragged all the way to midnight and the group before us is still not done. Finally they relented and tell us auditions will be held on the next day instead...zz. Should have gone to sleep earlier. But even if I do get released earlier, I will just spent the time playing bridge and dai dee with my juniors and frens haha. Get to know yun hao and joson better during the session.

Sometimes I just hate people who are xu qin jia yi, its just so attention-seeking and...well fake. But on the other hand I maybe just jealous.... Haiz guess I will have to live with this kind of people for the next half of the year. I sometimes wonder..if I become that way, will it be better? Will I get more company that way?

Days 2: Same as day 1 except AUDTIONS and station games at night

Cant really sleep during the night but still drag myself awake. Next time must find better sleeping bags...the floors in njc is really freaking hard. Practice really hard for the audition all the way....and practice from 9 am to 6pm. (of cuz with lunch in between la).

AUDITION: Was feeling quite confident before I started, unlike others. However when I played the first note I was like:

"OH SHYT!!! The string is abit flat!! As I continue playing, I feel that some notes really went out of tune. Kinda sux actually as tone accuracy is kinda my strength...den on the final bowing, the bow acutally bounce on the string, achieving a extremely constipated sound. I can even hear one person laugh.

Evaluation: More efforts on the E flat and B flat tone accuracy. (actually there is no dot for that - I just agar for that. Maybe thats the reason). More ying sei...I suppose the instructors find it too boring as there aren't really much variation in sound volume, and of cuz effective vibrato. I think I finally learn how to use vibrato with my final three fingers (for the notes playing using 4 fingers). Practice!! Den they say what line forty....hmm might make a mental note for it and check the score next time.

Score: 80.2/100. Target is 85...I know I can definitely do much better den this...

Station games: Charade was fun! Haiz I just need more courage to ask people to cheer with me and be enthu about it. I think that is always my achilies heel....must ask next time!

Day 3: Amazing Race.

The activity my committee has planned for. Some thoughts about the amazing race::

-Its just amazing that from nothing, we can come out with routes, places, things to do, all with many refination along the way. Tons of credits must go to yu quan, the leader of the committee, who listened to all our suggestions, and collated everything so ever neatly and very organised. I guess I have learnt how a leader should behave, and what must be done to make sure the committee does their work haha.

-Being a facilitator was quite an interesting job to do. Its amazing and the sense of satisfaction that one gets after the group try so hard to finish the activity you set is great. In the end we finished first!, thanks to everyone's efforts. I supposed the only downside is that I couldn't really get the group to bond together...there is always the segregation of the IPs and Jc people. Enthuiasm in a facilitator is really important to motivate the group to work together, and I think Chin Ying my partner facilitator does that very well, despite her voice being gone.

-Of cuz I must comment on the lack of discipline in CO. Its really retarded - after all the efforts made when I was grouping people up, many did not come (due to pon, no audition zz). In the end all the groupings were kinda screwed up. There is still a long way to go for me to become a good leader I guess.

--------------------------------------------------------

Summary: Overall the camp was a success - we did work hard to practice, meet new people from guzheng and have fun....kudos to the committee who worked so hard: special mention to Jiesi!, the overall in-charge of camp.

The past two days have been rather eventful of sorts~ went to both SMU and NUS open house. Here Im gonna give my most unbiased opinion of what I think about the two universities.

SMU -

Omg the place is super modern. I realised there are differences in seminar rooms, function rooms, conference rooms within the admin building itself. Took quite a while to find the seminar room in which the "Economics" talk was held. I have to admit SMU have its own strength to pit against the other universities, like for example, it have smaller amd very modern-looking class rooms (really quite small, allowing audible conversations to be heard between student and teacher from the whole class). This supposedly helps one to speak out more and engage in learning, and nt just absorbing from the lecturer.

As econs teacher, they were like telling us that going to smu is all worthwhile. As quoted, "For a little extra u pay more (SMU's fees is more expensive den other unis...how "little" is the extra remains to be seen), you willl get 4 times the attention! Thats cuz in SMU one lecturer is to 40 students, while NUS is around 200 to one lecturer. So you get 4 times worth ur money!) -.-.

Btw all (only 2 actually) lecturers that talked to us were ex-nus lecturers...haha. They were very careful in their words but the take home message conveyed to us were the same - SMU is better den NUS in terms of teaching methods and are FLEXIBLE~

NUS:

I was like ^^! when I saw them giving out free goodie bags. Okay what's that expression for!? Im a singaporean okay!! Lols. Anw made it just in time for the talk from faculty of science. Quite boring actually. Except for the part where this say NUS is world-recognised and showed the world ranking (NUS was about top ten). No big deal actually, until they showed where the "Other" universites in singapore were ranked..no prizes for guessing what is the other unis....NTU were like ranked 87 -.-. Gu yi de haha. I had a clearer idea of what courses are available and what to take blah blah...just realised that without getting many As or Bs its not possible to make it to a respectable course I want...

Cant really compare to SMU as the courses I went to listen to is science, but all the universities i s common - they took gp and pw rather seriously, and half the score needed to the admit to the university depends on the interview -.- Omg la.

Also I went to a concert at the singapore conference hall with my section - nt bad la, their bowings were like so fast and so "qing ting dian sui" like. Had a greater idea on what is the purpose of the double bass, and how am I gonna improve.

Went to IT fair @ suntec today. Quite horrible actually as the place was over-crowded. There is little time for shopping, more for keeping ahead of where my frens have gone and nt getting lost in the crowd. BTW must tell the peeps who read this post one thing! When buying ur phone check what kind and what price is the memory stick! I just realised my memory stick (pro duo card) cost the MOST for the same memory! zzz. Lesson learnt.

~BB COMMON TESTS!~

But still have to see you during july -.-.

Some thoughts about the common tests...

Admittedly I only truely studied for chem and econs only. Both papers was okay...

Bio was super kill-blow, anti-climax. Okay wadeva you call it.

Having spent the whole morning rushing for bio, I entered the hall with lackluste enthusiasm.
I looked at the essay questions and Im like sh!t! I never studied this! And the questions aren't straight forward at all.
I tried to do one question...found that I can only answer a one point, den tried to do the next question. Wow guess what the same thing happened again.

I seriously want to give up at that point...Im tired, I have a freaking itchy and sneezy nose thanks to the stupid air-con njc stupidly installed. I just cant wait to hand in a blank sheet of paper back to miss chua.
In the end I handed in a paper with some crap written on it...I will be lucky if I can pass that one.
A levels just seem closer now, it does scares me that this exam is gonna decide my future so easily. There is only one chance - take it, or leave as a coward. At this rate im going with the tests, the latter just seems more likely.

If things can be solved that easily...

Well well I have seem to say that I wun update anything until cts is over but here I am updating!! Oh well -.-

I Have gotten my first A~~~ in jc!! To come in a subject that I will never take for the rest of my life, its all the sweeter~.

But nt forgetting the others who did below expectations...Im sorry to hear that and wished you all the best. There is always the chance of retaking it.

Okay back to mugging time....~
